• GIVE PATIENTS A STRUCTURE TO PROMOTE THE INITIATION
OF ABSTINENCE
• TEACH EARLY ABSTINENCE SKILLS
• DELIVER RELAPSE PREVENTION INFORMATION
• PROVIDE EXTENSIVE EXPOSURE TO 12-STEP ACTIVITIES
This treatment is the
shortest of the Matrix Recovery Programs. Three visits per week are delivered
for the initial, intensive period of treatment. The basic skills for stopping
drug and/or alcohol use and for preventing relapse are taught. In addition,
because the episode is relatively brief, a strong emphasis is placed on helping
clients develop a connection to the self-help recovery programs so that a
support system will be in place following the beginning stages of recovery.
Should clients be reluctant to participate in 12-Step programs, resistance
will be explored and alternative forms of self-help programs will be encouraged.
