The Matrix Institute on Addictions is now offering FREE outpatient services to adolescents in need of treatment for substance abuse and dependence.

Through personal assessments, individual counseling sessions, and group and family meetings, Matrix’s Brief Adolescent Treatment (BAT) Program can help create positive and healthy changes for its clients.

The BAT Program shows participants how to heal and take an active role in overcoming their obstacles. Help is just one phone call away!

What is BAT?

The BAT program consists of 5 sessions: 2 individual sessions and 3 group meetings. These sessions focus on factors that motivate adolescents to change. Clients learn skills to cope with problems and meet their needs without turning to drugs and alcohol. Before counseling, clients must complete an interview to aid counselors with assessing the extent of assistance needed. After these 5 sessions, BAT participants will attend a weekly continuing care group session for 8 weeks to provide further assistance with relapse prevention. Throughout the program, clients and families also have the option of attending family group meetings while they are participating in BAT. In addition, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings tailored to adolescents are provided onsite.

How do I join BAT?

Participation in the BAT Program is free! Sessions and assessments are confidential and voluntary. To become a part of the BAT Program:

– Call the Matrix Institute at (310) 207-4322 to schedule an intake appointment. At this session, clients and parents will fill out paperwork, meet with the BAT counselor, and schedule an interview session for another date.

– Attend the interview session. This assessment may take up to 2 hours to complete.

– Clients can now take advantage of all that BAT has to offer!

Do I have time for BAT?

The BAT Program recognizes that keeping adolescents healthy is a priority. The staff at Matrix tries to keep busy schedules in mind by scheduling individual sessions at clients’ convenience and by offering group meetings in the late afternoon and evening hours.
