Withdrawal and Recovery from Alcohol and Drugs
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) has been proven to improve outcomes for patients in alcohol and drug treatment. A number of different medications are currently available to assist individuals with their withdrawal and recovery from alcohol and drug use. Medication management can be coordinated by Matrix staff when requested. Some of the medications available include:
- Acamprosate (Campral) - for alcohol dependence
- ReVia (naltrexone) - for alcohol and opioid dependence
- Vivitrol (naltrexone – Long Acting Injection) - for alcohol dependence
- Suboxone and Subutex (buprenorphine) - for opioid dependence
- Methadone – for opioid dependence
Mental Health Disorders Many individuals in need of alcohol and drug treatment also suffer from co-occurring psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorders that require medication. Matrix clinicians work closely with psychiatrists in the community to incorporate medication into the treatment plan when appropriate and coordinate patient care. These efforts allow for the highest level of clinical excellence during substance abuse treatment and provide additional support for those struggling with mental health problems.
